John Sheary O.D. was born and raised in Mason City, IL. He attended Indiana University receiving both his B.S. and his O.D. degree, graduating in 1987. He then attended a primary care optometry residency in Pensacola, FL. under the tutelage of Larry Hillman O.D. He was awarded the "Waggoner Award" as the outstanding sophomore in the Biological Sciences in 1982 and a "Founders Day" Award for high academic achievement in 1985. He had published a case report, "Coat's Disease", in the April, 1989 edition of the Journal of the American Optometric Association. He has practiced primary care optometry at various clinics in both Illinois and Indiana for 37years.
John Sheary O.D. is married with 3 children and 4 granddaughters. His hobbies are tennis, Formula 1 racing, classic cars including his vintage 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible, and travelling.
