Dr. Birky was born and raised in Bloomington-Normal, having graduated from Normal West High School. Dr. Birky then went on to study and receive his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. From there, he went on to Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington, Indiana. Upon graduation, Dr. Birky returned to Bloomington Normal to provide care for the community he grew up in. He is a member of the AOA and IOA and has been working at All About Eyes since 2018. Dr. Birky enjoys all aspects of providing his patients with the care they need, but in particular doing children’s eye exams, fitting contact lenses, and treating ocular diseases including dry eye and anything else that may be complicating comfort or vision of his patients.
In his spare time, Dr. Birky enjoys reading and being read to with his oldest daughter, Ellie, destroying his son, Ethan, in backyard football and baseball, and losing in board games to his youngest daughter, Hattie. He also is an avid pickleball player and golfer, which he enjoys doing with his wife, Micah.
